I’ve talked about it before, maybe when I shared the best butterbeer recipe, or maybe when I shared some of our favorite Harry Potter games – but my family, we love Harry Potter! I first tried pumpkin juice at Harry Potter World at Universal Orlando (and then again at Universal Studios Hollywood) but since we’re not there as often as I’d like, I had to to try and recreate it at home!
It may not be the most popular drink of all the Harry Potter recipes, but it’s still a great one! Plus, like I mentioned before if you’re not a huge Harry Potter fan, this is actually a great fall recipe regardless. I made it for a Halloween party earlier this year and everyone loved it, not knowing that it was even related to the drinks you can get at Diagon Alley! So grab everything you need from the grocery store and make a quick batch of this for your next Harry Potter movie night (along with this butterbeer popcorn), fall party, Friendsgiving, or Thanksgiving meal! You’ll be transported right into the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft along with Harry and his friends!

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

Easy recipe – there’s really nothing to this recipe other than just mixing the ingredients together to get that smooth pumpkin flavor! Simple ingredients – everything you need to make this recipe can be found at your local grocery store either in the baking aisle or the juice aisle! Who knew having Harry Potter’s pumpkin juice at home would be so easy? Plus, making this at home instead of buying it means no artificial ingredients! Perfect for Harry Potter lovers – while this version may not taste exactly like what they serve at the theme park, this magical treat is close enough to make every fan of Harry Potter happy. And when you’re doing a Harry Potter movie marathon, you don’t really care if what you’re drinking is exactly what come sin the bottles of pumpkin juice in the show, it’s the imagination that counts.

Ingredients

Ingredient Notes

Apple cider – I’ve found that this is best with just 100% apple cider that doesn’t have a bunch of added sugar or flavorings. It’s typically available all fall season long and the rest of the year (but definitely in the fall). Brown sugar – you can use either light or brown in this Harry Potter pumpkin juice recipe, either one works fine. Pumpkin puree – make sure you’re getting canned pumpkin puree and not pumpkin pie filling. They taste totally different and the filling won’t give you the delicious drink you’re looking for. Pumpkin pie spice – this is just typical pumpkin pie spice that you’d use to make a no bake pumpkin pie. It’s a nice mixture of warm fall spices. This would also be good with a little dash of nutmeg as well!

How to make pumpkin Juice

This pumpkin juice is one of the easiest drinks ever, even easier than my Thanksgiving punch recipe. It’s literally just pour, scoop, and stir! Start by adding apple cider into a large pitcher. I’ve included the serving sizes in the recipe card below but feel free to double or triple the recipe as necessary if you want to use a punch bowl or punch dispenser. Add pumpkin puree, brown sugar, and pumpkin pie spice together into the pitcher and stir until well combined. The brown sugar will give this a hint of sweetness while the pumpkin pie spice will give it that nice flavor that makes it perfect for the fall season. After all the ingredients are added to the pitcher, whisk them together until they are fully combined and smooth. I just use a hand whisk for this recipe because they’re easy to mix together. Put the pitcher of mixed ingredients into the fridge for a few hours until it is chilled. The ingredients might have settled to the bottom in the fridge so make so stir before serving! Serve chilled directly from the fridge. Unlike this crockpot wassail recipe, I recommend keeping this chilled rather then warming it up because the pumpkin just mixes in better while cold. Plus, if you’ve ever had a bottle of pumpkin juice from Hogsmeade, you’ll know they’re served cold!

Expert Tips

Make sure to stir after chilling before you serve so that you can mix the ingredients back into the cider. They’ll sometimes settle to the bottom while in the fridge. Add ice cubes to cool the drink back down in a hurry, but it’s best served chilled straight from the fridge. Also, the ice cubes may dilute the flavor slightly but it should be fine as long as you’re drinking it immediately. Store in a pitcher for up to five days in the refrigerator. Make sure to stir again before pouring additional servings.
